December 2019 member of the month
1. Name
Amy Callaghan
2. How long have you been training with Field of Fitness?
Since February when I was gifted a free trial from an existing member. I then moved onto the Strength only membership and in October I upgraded to the membership to include the classes as well. As I made more progress and became more embedded I wanted to scale up my workouts to include a wider variety and give me the opportunity to meet more lovely people.
3. What do you love about training with Field of Fitness?
I love the community spirit and the sense of overall wellbeing I get from being a member. I also love the peace of mind from knowing I’m training well, with expert guidance helping me get the best results possible in a safe way.
4. What do you think has been your greatest achievement whilst you’ve been training with us?
For me it has been less about the numbers on the scales and more about my mental health. After 3 years without regular exercise, I had forgotten how much taking time out for myself and releasing endorphins can lift my mood. Whist the body fat and muscle mass numbers have changed for the better I feel these are more of a bi-product and, for me, being in a better place overall makes me want to take care of myself better, eat more nutritious food, workout more often and live a more healthy lifestyle overall.
5. What’s your favourite exercise?
I love the HIIT classes closely followed by the hinge strength sessions. The HIIT classes are my favourite as I can just go super hard for short bursts and I also love the music which spurs me on. Plus you can collect lots of MEPs in the HIIT classes! The hinge strength sessions are super challenging as there is so much to think about each time you lift but I like that because my mind can’t wander and I have to be totally focused on what I’m doing. With weights, it is also nice to see them gradually creeping up. I’ve gone from just lifting the bar to lifting 60kg.
6. What do you want to achieve at field of Fitness in the next 3 months?
I’m getting married in June 2020 so now I’m in a good pattern with exercise, I’d like to focus on my nutrition. You can’t continue to get good results just by working out. Nutrition has a much higher impact than exercise on my body and in past months my in-body results could have been a lot better had I fuelled my body properly. I also want to start increasing the weights I lift so good nutrition will minimise and risk of injury too. Finally, I’d like to get to Gold status on MyZone which I should do by the end of February.
7. How has training at Field of Fitness affected you personally?
There is no doubt that my overall sense of wellbeing has improved. I tend to work out at lunchtime or straight after work. The lunchtime workouts certainly make me more productive in the afternoons and the post-work sessions help me switch off from the stresses of work. I’m much happier in general (I’ve been able to phase out my talking therapies counselling) and overall I’m more sociable and all my relationships have improved. I’ve also made many friends so I can’t imagine my life without it now.
