Name:
Steve Day
Trained at Field of Fitness since:
April 2015
What do you love most about training with Field of Fitness?
All sorts really – the overall smartness and professionalism of the place and the people; the warm welcome… every time I arrive; the space and not feeling crowded by ‘gym grunts’; the way the guys are always ready and prepared for me; and the overall commitment to ‘me’ … I feel like the whole team are on my side.
What do you think is your biggest achievement whilst you’ve been training with us?
I’ve lost a LOT of weight – 16kg so far – or about 2½ stone in old money! Plus, from being massively out of condition (16 years since I trained seriously in my rugby days) I’m now in reasonable shape. The weight loss has been a bit of a surprise really – and I’ve simply cut back on drinking generally and rethought some bad eating habits I’d got into (there are now planned lunches and I’ve cut out bread). The accountability at the gym has helped me a lot.
What’s your favourite exercise?
The end-of-session stretches – ie. the ones Dan and Jon do for me!
I’m less good on the ones I’m supposed to do at home.
What do you want to achieve at field of Fitness in the next 3 months?
I want to get down to 14 stone – which is about 89kg. That will mean I’ve lost 3 stones overall and I’ve about 3kg off that at the moment. Plus I guess I just want to consolidate on the fitness side and improve my imbalanced flexibility – which I need to do for my golf.
How has training at Field of Fitness affected you personally?
It’s cost a lot! But only because of all the new clothes I’ve had to buy!
Seriously, I feel LOADS better and, without sounding vain, it’s great when loads of people tell you that you’re looking great … no-one ever mentions when you look sh*t do they? My ‘sleep apnoea’ now seems cured, which is great news, and it has to be good that I’ve shifted so much fat – at my age especially. Apparently I look a lot younger too, which is good at any age!
